Procedures and surgeries

If you have heart disease and your condition is worsening, a surgical procedure to correct the damage may be necessary.

Although any kind of surgical procedure should be carefully considered, you can be reassured by the fact that the medical community now has extensive experience with these procedures. Some surgeries have become almost routine procedures, such as pacemaker surgery, and similarly for non-surgical procedures, such as coronary angioplasty.

Coronary artery bypass graft surgery remains a serious but very effective procedure to increase blood flow to the heart.

Keep in mind that these procedures do not "cure" heart disease. They only help repair the damage caused by heart disease. Therefore, be sure to follow your doctor's instructions to care for your heart health after a surgical or non-surgical procedure.
